To be eligible for print publication, research papers must first pass a rigorous peer-review process to ensure their scholarly merit and adherence to the journal's standards. The following conditions apply:

  • Peer-Review ApprovalPapers must successfully complete the peer-review process before being considered for print publication.
  • Final Manuscript SubmissionAuthors must submit the final accepted version of their manuscript in full accordance with the journal's submission guidelines.
  • Editorial Board AcceptanceOnly papers that have been fully reviewed and accepted by the editorial board will be considered for print publication.
  • Standards ComplianceManuscripts must adhere to all formatting, structure, and content standards as outlined by the journal.

Authors are required to format their papers according to OIJSEM's specified template, which is available on the journal's website. The following requirements must be met:

  • Citation StyleAll references must follow the journal's specified citation format. Inconsistent or missing citations will result in the manuscript being returned to the author.

  • Non-ComplianceSubmissions not adhering to these formatting requirements will not be considered for print publication and will be returned to the author for revision.

  • Quarterly Print EditionThe print edition of the journal is produced quarterly. Papers selected for inclusion will appear in the next available print issue following acceptance.
  • Online PublicationAll published papers will be accessible online via the journal's website, ensuring free and immediate access for the global academic community.
  • Optimised for Digital ReadingAuthors are encouraged to ensure their papers are optimised for online reading, including providing high-quality images and properly formatted tables to enhance readability across both platforms.

Proofreading and Final Approval

Author review and sign-off before going to print

Before final publication, authors will be provided with proofs of their paper for review. This is a critical step in ensuring the accuracy and quality of the content.

  • Final ApprovalFinal approval from the author is required before the paper can proceed to print. Once approved, the paper will be finalised for inclusion in the next print issue.
Authors who do not respond to proof requests within the given timeframe may have their paper deferred to a subsequent print issue.

Authors retain the copyright to their work; however, by submitting a manuscript to OIJSEM, they grant the journal a non-exclusive licence to publish and distribute the paper in both print and digital formats.

  • Author Copyright RetentionAuthors retain full copyright of their published work. Submission to OIJSEM does not transfer ownership of the work to the journal.
  • Non-Exclusive LicenceBy submitting, authors grant OIJSEM a non-exclusive licence to publish, reproduce, and distribute the paper in both print and digital formats.
  • No Copyright InfringementAuthors must ensure that their submission does not infringe upon any existing copyrights, and that proper attribution is given to all third-party materials used within the paper.
